I installed the gnome-desktop package *after* upgrading from kubuntu dapper tu kubuntu edgy. I don't see this problem under Gnome. I also changed theme from the default one to Aero (downloaded from gnome- look.org) to see if this would have fixed the problem under KDE. I still don't see anything, but in Gnome I see all the UI text with the new theme.
