** Description changed:

I've got a Logitech quickcam pro 9000 webcam and I'm using its built in
microphone as a system wide default sound recorder. I have used the
same mic with Ubuntu Intrepid, Ubuntu Jaunty alpha, beta and release
candidate without any problems and have been able to use various
programs eg skype, recordmydesktop with perfect sound recording quality.
However, I'm now using Jaunty final fully updated 64 bit edition and am
now experiencing problems. Basically I'm getting clicking sounds when
ever I record, my voice is still heard but there is clear clicking sound
interference. I'm attaching a very brief sound recording so you can
  understand what I mean.

Update: I've just tried a different cam with inbuilt mic (Logitech
quickcam pro 4000) and exactly the same problem appears.
+
+ Update: Bizarly the sound problem has now disappeared, works fine now!
+ I've not had any updates so not sure what's happened.
