Happens to me after updating from intrepid to jaunty. I'm on a thinkpad with intel 965GM chipset. The upgrade turned off "visual effects". When the bug is happening as soon as the focus is on emacs, clicking anywhere else hangs the desktop (can't change focus, can't click on things). Waiting a long enough usually releases the lock. switching to a VT and back does too. "Assistive Technologies" was on. I've turned it off (but it looks like I need to logout for the change to take effect).
