If the original request concerns the same iMon LCD display that I have,
there is no way to power down the display when the PC goes to sleep or
even poweroff. This is because my display is tied to an IR receiver that
is able to power on the machine via a button on the remote, thus the
device is powered even when the PC is switched off.

However, there is a solution that will result in a blank LCD screen, which is 
as good as it gets. Edit /etc/LCDd.conf and search for the line(s) GoodBye=, 
and change them to contain only spaces. My display is 2 lines of 16 characters, 
so my LCDd.conf contains:
GoodBye="                "
GoodBye="                "
