I confirm, that specific hardware (T60 with a X1300 chip) is quite well
supported by the open source driver. I have practically no special
config in my xorg.conf, just the Virtual line required to support
multiple screens. I run this on my work laptop. A coworker has a similar
system with equally good results.

Aside from that, the only issue is occasional lines or corruption on the
secondary (external) screen. I haven't been able to pinpoint it to a
particular cause, but it's not really something that's overly annoying
either. It stays well enough out of the way to be acceptable -- surely
results will improve with new versions of the open source driver.
