I'm getting the same bug, latest Jaunty. I have been using Jaunty pre-
releases and continuously updating for several months, and this wasn't
happening a few weeks ago. I cannot pin down exactly when it started
happening (since I don't actually just log out that often).

To be specific on this, when I log out I get a blank screen. I do not
get an error message saying incorrect resolution (but I don't think I've
ever seen that on this laptop). Pressing 'Alt F1' or 'Ctrl Alt F1' does
not get me a virtual terminal. My only option is to reboot.

I use KDE4 with KDM. I will try combinations of using GNOME and GDM,
and try turning off desktop effects.

I will attach the info you requested from original reporter, I'll attach
XOrg logs when I've made sure I know exactly what I'm doing and how I'm
shutting down the computer.
