Public bug reported:
Since I updated Ubuntu from Intrepid to Jaunty, RAM memory size isn't
being detected properly. Instead of showing 1011MB in Gnome System
Monitor and using the 'free' command on a terminal, they're showing
988,1MB.
I tried to use Jaunty LiveCD but the problem still happens.
I tried to use Intrepid LiveCD and RAM memory size is detected properly.
My computer has a dedicated video adapter (NVIDIA), so it doesn't share
RAM memory.
I also used memtest to look for hardware problems, but I found none.
I believe it isn't a problem with a package like gnome-system monitor or
the one which offers free command. It must be a deeper problem with
hardware detection packages or even with the some Kernel compiling
options.
