For me this bug is a real show stopper. I have an HP 5730 thin client running the release version of 9.04. The image has been installed on USB drive as 7.10 and has been upgraded a number of times. Now it does not boot at all with kernel shipped with 9.04 since I'm booting Ubuntu from an external USB drive. I have to boot up with kernel from 8.10. I can probably get around that by moving the root partition to the built-in 1GB ATA flash, but I don't want to wipe the XP that came with the box from factory.
