Check the bug 229330. I had/still have the same problem, but got a workaround. Not sure if it will work for you, but you can try to mute the front channel in the volume control ( do not lower the volume, the headphones still depend on that volume level, just mute it). For me, that mutes the speakers, but not the headphones. Cheers
