I see this 'random jump to somewhere else' problem when using Gimp, under KDE4 (Kubuntu 9.4, Dell 1525n hardware, which is an ALPS/2 synaptics-like touchpad). Most evident when using the 'clone tool'. Dragging across the image with left button down will suddenly jump several hundred pixels up and left. Dragging in KDE seems fine
