Fabio, the solution of adding the hotkey event has the exact problem Ubuntu was trying to avoid: controlling the sound or brightness twice per click: one in hardware and one in software. You'll notice that the sound control will jump twice as much. At half the slider you'll have no sound whatsoever. Anyways, feel free to use whatever solution (or not solution) you want.
