Just been into the BIOS and changed the HDD Setting from "Native IDE" to
"SATA -> AHCPI".

XP won't boot with that enabled so I'd rather not have to change it
every time. BUT input devices have improved. Still far from ideal
though. Keyboard is still noticeably lagging and mouse isn't as smooth
as I'd like but i can type at a _fairly_ reasonable speed without it
missing too many chars.

Might check for a BIOS update. Have a nagging feeling it could be my
Gigabyte motherboard. I remember 8.04 being slow too - that was while I
was still using an nvidia card.
