Well, throw me a bone on how to get a more complete report, please. When I log out and get stuck at the black screen, I can't seem to exit to terminal mode using Ctrl-Alt-F1 either. The only recourse seems to be to press on the Power button which will shutdown the system. /var/log/Xorg.0.log is wiped out after the reboot so I can't really get any information from there. $HOME/.xsession-errors don't show anything 'cos I was successfully logged out in the first place. Because of the loss of interactivity stated above, I can't really generate a backtrace as per instructed (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing) either.
Anything else I can do to squeeze a bit more blood out of this onion?
