After upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04 64 bit on my HP EliteBook 8530p with ATI HD 3650, I can confirm that fglrx 8.600 provided by Jaunty is not working. The machine is hanging with Black Screen of Death. The Xorg.0.log is not reporting anything useful. I was not able to catch any other message from the kernel. Tryed even with previous kernel 2.6.27-11 from 8.10, same black screen of death. Even tryed with fglrx 8.602 downloaded from ATI site and installed from sources following this guide: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Jaunty_Installation_Guide
With 8.10 the fglrx driver was working fine. Bad thing unfortunately.
