** Description changed:

  Using
  Kernel Linux 2.6.27.11
  GNOME 2.24.1
  1GB Memory
  Intel Pentium 4 @2.66 GHz
  96GB free on HDU
  Intrepid Ibex Ubuntu 8.10 DVD
Nvidia GeForce 200 Series GTX 295

I want the Extra Visual Effects of Appearance
Nvidia driver in Intrepid Ibex Ubuntu 8.10 DVD renders OpenOffice Org
titleless

  Then I tried:
Killed X server thru alt-ctrl-f1 as requested by
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.11-pkg1.run Nvidia drivers installer from Nvidia here:

  Installed NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.11-pkg1.run from this URL
  http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html
Now OpenOffice Titles are visible in Extra Visual Effects of Appearance
But Terminal screen is 100% blank

Then try to activate the Nvidia proprietary driver option in Ubuntu's
Hardware Driver and get the crash

  I've tried
this one: Linux IA32 Latest Version: 180.51
  and
this one: Latest Legacy GPU version (96.43.xx series): 96.43.11

  Hope this info helps

  Thanks
