Related issues on older Advent laptop(5490). Dapper 606 LTS install gave me no battery option on power management. Also have odd suspend behaviour every minute or so - screen blanks and fan/disc noise stop until mouse or key is touched, then restores almost instantly. System is therefore unusable but no data appears to be lost - even when downloading packages. Cannot find any instruction as to how to force battery to be recognised.
