Artur once again many thanks for your reply.

What I had hoped for was that my home folder consists of 1 main folder
ian. That is sub-divided into four separate folders.  In addition there
is a fifth folder which is in its self sub-divided into three further
categories.

It is the sub-divided folder that I had hoped to colour code.  I wanted
particularly to colour each individual sub-divided folder particularly
in the fifth folder.  I don't particularly want to offer a screen shot
on an open forum as such but if it would assist you I am prepared to do
so if it is of assistance in clarifying what I am seeking.

It is colouring the folder rather than the background of the folder ian.
Is this possible ?
