Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

When playing the Cloverfield DVD with totem-gstreamer on Jaunty, there
are always German subtitles displayed in the main movie. I haven't found
a way to disable this.

The View -> Subtitles menu offers "None", "Auto" and "SUBPICTURE 0",
with None being selected. Selecting something else here doesn't do
anything, though.

Using MPlayer, the subtitles are not shown by default.
Using VLC, the subtitles aren't shown by default either; also, the Video ->
Subtitles Track menu offers Track 1 to Track 14 (for Track 1 to Track 7 it also
shows language names - Deutsch, English, Turkish etc.).
