Jim, As you mentioned your bug report has been merged to bug 373988. I also believe that your problem is not the same as problem described in this bug, so I suggest to remove link to this bug and continue your bug report. I think also that your problems are not concerning ubuntu-doc package but rather your movie player, so you should open new bug against it or use Answer Tracker (answers.launchpad.net).
