Public bug reported: Upgrading from Hardy to Jaunty causes a huge performance downgrade using ATI mobility 9000 RV250, in particular in browsing, scrolling and rendering of windows. I see that it's a common problem with older ATI hardware (see for instance http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1133931&highlight=ati+mobility+9000). Maybe a tweak in xorg.conf can improve performance over default settings, but no clear information is easily found.
