*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 288807 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288807
Thank you for provided the more detailed information. The problem seems to be that the computer doesn't get the EDID information from the monitor. This is a known problem for a number of Sony Vaio laptops. Unfortunately, Sony ships laptops with monitors that have no ability to tell the computer what their preferred resolution is. There is some more information about this and what lines to add to xorg.conf to work around this at bug 288807. I'm going to mark this bug as a duplicate of that one. If your laptop model is not mentioned on that bug report, please leave a comment there. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 288807 [i815] Wrong resolution on Vaio PCG-SRX51, PCG-SRX41 and PCG-FX370 due to incorrect h/v rates -- [i945] i945 don't recognize 1440x900 in ubuntu jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/376722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
