FYI, according to the unofficial ATI driver wiki: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Jaunty_Installation_Guide
the only option for my video card (ATI Radeon pre-X1000) is the open source mesa drivers. This is because ATI is no longer providing support for these video cards, and as such the last supported proprietary driver is Catalyst 9.3. However, v9.3 is not compatible with Jaunty because it doesn't support xorg-xserver 1.6. You can also check under System-> Hardware Drivers. If there is a restricted (proprietary) driver that is compatible and available, Ubuntu will download it for you (and could thereby replace mesa). -- After installing, there is no desktop. Only a pale blue screen with arrow pointer. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351293 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
