bug confirmed as 'fix committed' on pidgin-bugs tracker and expected to be
released in pidgin 2.6.0
not sure how the pidgin roadmap coincides with ubuntu karmic?
dropped the patch into debian/patches and building test .debs in my PPA
will attach a debdiff fwiw
