Same problem for me, I have also a Thinkpad T61. I don't think the problem is related to suspend, after a fresh install, I just have to do some upgrades and to install new packages to get the corruption. I'm also using the wifi connection, don't know if it's related. I will try using XFS to see if I got the same problem.
