There is a simple way to do compact pdf and not needing to embed fonts. I use this method since pdf is available in OOo as an output format.
Go to Menu > Options > Fonts replacement and do these replacements: Arial > Helvetica Times New Roman > Times Courier New > Courier And check allway use for all three fonts. You will have to type Helvetica, Times and Courier in the correct boxes because these fonts are not usually installed on your Ubuntu system. By doing this, you will force OOo to not embed Arial, Times New Roman and Courier and the pdf reader will use use the provided Adobe fonts (usually included with every pdf reader). If you uncheck the font substitution, you will see how rapidly your pdf file will grow simply by embedding ttf fonts. This trick is still a good move even if newer pdf reader don't include anymore Helvetica, Times and Courier type1 font. -- [Upstream] [hardy] OpenOffice embeds full fonts into pdf/ps files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/23573 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
