I believe the issue has been fixed upstream It is Ubuntu policy not to introduce new packages into old releases. Crosswire packaging team is working on updating Sword, Xiphos, Bibletime and Bibledit in Debian and Karmic. But additionally we provide our packages for older releases. You can try our packages from the PPA https://edge.launchpad.net/~pkgcrosswire/+archive/ppa We have Hardy - Karmic packages there.
