my bug might also involve: I was using amd64 Intrepid; then I reinstalled with x86 Jaunty, but using the same old home directory. So there might be some bugs with 32 vs. 64 bits being stored... I haven't tried wiping my KMail / KDE settings to see if the problems persist...
