** Description changed:

- Last week, I used Wubi, which installed Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 as a dual
- boot onto my Gateway MX6422 laptop which has Broadcom BCM4318 for its'
- wireless card. With an ethernet cable, it immediately connects to the
- network (have a Belkin Wireless G MIMI Router). In addition to my
- wireless router (which I set as hidden), two of my neighbors use
- wireless networks. My Windoze XP system detects wireless networks
- quickly and easily. The Ubuntu installation does not detect any wireless
- networks, and even if I tell network manager to use a hidden wireless
- network, it does not work. My research into the recommended fixes shows
- many different solutions for BCM43** connection problems, some of which
- seem quite extreme. I have done a few of the terminal commands and it
- appears the Ubuntu is at least seeing the card. I see a lot of reports
- that incorrectly say the next Ubuntu releases (8.04, 8.10) will fix the
- BCM43** problem! Of the couple dozen or so possible solutions, which is
- the correct one to use?

before and would gladly remove the extra comments if I could).
