Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and help improve Ubuntu. If you are using the NVIDIA binary driver, does the corruption/crash occur if you use the Xorg "nv" driver?
Do you have desktop effects enbled? If so, does the corruption/crash occur if you disable desktop effects? Please attached /var/log/messages and /var/log/Xorg.0.log from a session that crashed.
