i've fixed by using alien to unpack fix the leading / in front of the preint script. And changed back to a deb with alien. However because this package is refered to by metapackages (including standard and ubuntu-desktop) it causes these to fail as they rely on the signed package and overwrite my commited.
Can someone package and sign and push to the repository a fixed version asap.
