I did in a different way but still using /etc/rc.local Once I set al volumes the way I wanted (which might differ from the above ones) I issued from a terminal: sudo alsactl store Then in /etc/rc.local (before the exit 0 as Arnaud pointed out) I put "alsactl restore" (no need of sudo here since it's executed as root at boot time).
