Hi Robert, Could you try booting with the 'quiet' and 'splash' options removed? The reason I ask is I'd be interested to see where in the boot process it seems to temporarily hang. To temporarily remove the options, press 'Escape' key at the 3 second pause by Grub bootloader. Then press 'e' (edit) on the buggy kernel entry, followed by 'e' again on the kernel line. Then remove the 'splash' and 'quiet' keywords and press 'b' to boot. Could you then take a digital photo of the point in which the boot pauses and attach it here.
Would you also be willing to test the upstream vanilla kernel to see if this issue remains? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . This will be the key part since if the issue exists upstream we'll need to get it fixed upstream first. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- Ubuntu hangs on boot up. Requires hitting enter key and or tapping mouse pad on my PCG GRT270. If not it will sit for 20 minutes or maybe longer, I have not let it go much longer than that. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373970 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
