I have a ThinkPad T61, and have also followed the instructions in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1130582 -- primarily so I could get X compositing working. Sleep works fine -- resume does not. My pulseaudio logs show no issues with sleep or resume, but my GDM logs terminate with the following:
