I have done another round on this issue, and it seems to be triggered by the KDE Groupware Wizard. I have a Kolab 2.2 server that I sync with. Once I have run the wizard (which works fine and syncs with the server), I see the reported behaviour. This is on Kubuntu 9.04 with all current updates.
