Public bug reported:

Hello,
I'm using Jaunty. I use a geforce2 mx400 graphic card.
At first time under jaunty, the graphic resolution was low. So i tried to rise
it. There was no way to do it without the nvidia corporation driver (in french
: "le pilote propriƩtaire").
I checked on the "drivers" section, and I chose the 96 (which was the only one
available). Rebooting, i did get only a full black screen, with the little
scratchy noise indicating that the screen is no more getting information from
the computer.

I tried with Envy (following informations on ubuntu-fr.org), with the two
drivers proposed : 96 and 71.
With 96 it was the same as above ; with 71, I had a box telling me that I'll
boot in low graphic mode (at least no pushing-button reboot!)

I tried manuallly with downloaded drivers (96.43.07 and 96.43.11) from
nvidia website. It was the same result.

Here is my xorg.conf on a default boot (maybe it is useful to you...) :

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Configured Monitor"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Default Screen"
        Monitor "Configured Monitor"
        Device "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

Any idea of what's happening?

THanx,
Pieter

(PS : everything was perfect under 8.04 --- I'm asking myself why I did
change...:-)
