Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.04
Firefox 3.0.10+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.0
Thunderbird 2.0.0.21+nobinonly-0ubuntu1.9

For the example here, (and when trying to reproduce the issue) please
compare gedit (Text Editor) with a text field in Firefox or Thunderbird.

In gedit you can write an entire paragraph, select all, and press the up
or left arrow and the flashing text cursor will be brought to position
0. In firefox/thunderbird the same action will bring you to the last
character -1 or one line up. The reverse is true of select all
down/right.

This affects text fields in web pages, search bar, url bar, bookmark
names, email address field, subject field and email body. Expected
behavior can be seen in gedit.
