I thought it might be that it depended on some kde service that was not installed (I run gnome), so I did an "apt-get install kde", but it still hangs. Standard output shows that it should run the command: " dvdauthor -x /tmp/kde-markgalassi/k9copy/k9aj15005.xml" but it never executes that. Note that I can run that command from the shell and it works very well. If I run k9copy under strace there is way too much output, but where it hangs it's in a loop of failing read() calls (EAGAIN error) and poll() calls (timeout).
