Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wine
This is now a known bug we are many to have on a regular basis. Basically installing wine and apps through wine alters /home/username and .dmrc file rights leaving the user with an error message after logging: "User's $Home/.dmrc file is being ignored. This prevents the default session and language from being saved. File should be owned by user and have 644 permissions. User's $Home directory must be owned by user and not writable by other users" Obviously the solution is to chmod 644 the .dmrc file BUT also the /home/username rights which have a conflicting +w right for group and others. As a significant amount of users are having this issue, although it is a rather armless issues, i think it would help digging on this trying to understand why wine have the bad habit of doing this. Maybe this should be forwarded to wine development team. ** Affects: wine (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Installing stuff with wine alter .dmrc and /home/username rights + Installing stuff with wine alters .dmrc and /home/username rights ** Description changed: Binary package hint: wine This is now a known bug we are many to have on a regular basis. - Basically installing wine and apps through wine alter /home/username and - .dmrc file rights leaving the user with an error message after logging: + Basically installing wine and apps through wine alters /home/username + and .dmrc file rights leaving the user with an error message after + logging: "User's $Home/.dmrc file is being ignored.
