I am experiencing this same behavior in Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake with xmms 1.2.10 and libgtk2.0-0 package 2.8.20-0ubuntu. My system is completely up to date via updates from us.archive.ubuntu.org. If more information would be helpful, please let me know.
