According to my girlfriend there seems to be a corelation with some events. Sometimes her laptop doesn't unsleep itself. It's working but the screen doesn't switch on so she hard resets it. After such hard reset the keyboard is not responding when GDM shows up, unless she first launches Windows and then reboots under Ubuntu.
