Firefox doesn't know what to do with plain text files with a .php extension. When you go to a website with a .php extension, the webserver returns a text/html or similar type file that firefox knows how to render. If you navigate to the www directory and try to open a .php file, Firefox will not know what to do with it. This is standard behavior.
