I have the same problem with Sony NWZ-A628 but I did want to use the MTP protocol because of label managing and so killing hald wasn't my chosen solution.
I solved the problem installing the plugin for support for MTP devices in RhythmBox (pay attention not to have it installed with that for iPod management, they seemed to conflict, at least in my case), it prevents the sony walkman to be mounted automatically by the ubuntu applet and you can manage it successfully from rythmbox via MTP, but if you want to open the device via nautilus you cannot and you need to use those remedies previously described by kind supporters. ** Attachment added: "rhythmbox plugin for managing mp3 players via MTP" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/27590911/rhythmbox-mtp-plugin.png -- Sony Walkman NWZ-S618F in Ubuntu 9.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/347902 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
