** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: notify-osd

I have a Verizon Wireless Broadband USB727 Novatel Wireless 3G CDMA
modem. Everytime I click on its radio button in NetworkManager Applet
0.7.0.100 and the connection is established, the notify-osd bubble
flashes several times (half a dozen or so), then stays on for its normal
  duration.

I have made no changes to the connection (as this breaks the Disconnect
radio button, another bug report to follow); so, everything is at
default. Plug the card into a USB slot, let nm auto create the
connection, left-click on nm-applet, click the "Auto Mobile Broadband
(CDMA) connection" radio button, and allow it to connect; then, watch
the notify-osd bubble as it flashes several times prior to settling down
and displaying normally for the duration of its screen time.

+ + I am using metacity - no fancy anything.
