I just did boot back in 2.6.28 (2.6.28-12-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 1 19:27:06 UTC 2009 i686). My D-Link DBT-122 (ID 2001:f111) works as expected. This confirms that, for this dongle, Bluez 4.00 to 4.32 was the problem and Bluez 4.40 the solution, not the kernel. (Mind the fact that there are two different D-Link DBT-122 in the lists of USB IDs.)
