I finally had the same situation with the 3.0 software fresh off the press. The bug still exists.
If the program window is selected while the auto-backup is in progress. The select/drag release aspect of the left mouse button does not cause the background of the displayed text to change color. (the text is selected however, and can be copied and pasted) In my case, I selected it and then hit ctrl+C to copy and cntrl+B** to search, the non indicated but selected material appeared in the search window and when I moved down to the replace with line and pasted, the clipboard contents were the same. ** I filed a separate error report: The default keyboard shortcut table for the Spanish interface is wrong. Search is triggered by F for find as in English instead of B for Buscar as is claimed in the note on the dropdown menu, and B gives bold as well as N giving Negreta. I just went to the shortcut list and fixed my copy, but the default list should be corrected. Thanks and good luck.
