Sorry, this is very much a paper cut! Auto-arrange desktop icons is
already a user visible feature in Nautilus, it just doesn't work as
expected. This small fix would benefit an enormous number of users by
helping them to keep their desktops tidy.
Daniel, why do you think it would not benefit a significant percentage
of users?
