This sudden rebooting problem is becoming increasingly frequent, but it now happens with programs other than Firefox as well. The computer often reboots immediately when I open a new application. For example, it has happened when I have opened gnome-terminal and totem as well. Sometimes X just restarts suddenly, but most of the time the system restarts completely. The strange thing is that it does not happen with my own user but only with other user accounts I've created for others (even if I'm the one using their accounts). It may be that their video settings are different from mine.
I tried switching today from the nv to the nvidia driver to see if it's a video driver issue. It seems to be a recent bug, as this computer had been running Dapper non-stop without problem since Dapper was released. Sorry I can't offer more specific information for the moment.
