Hi There is a better solution as suggested before in the discussion. Download 2.6.30 from here http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/. I never had a problem after installing mainline. I wont recommend it if you are using some proprietary drivers from Ubuntu. They may not be supported. My "/" is not on ext4 though but all other partitons which I used for storage are on ext4 now and I was having problem with stock jaunty kernel.
