Public bug reported:
OS: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" Alpha 2
Kernel: 2.6.30-9-generic
Output of "lsb_release -rd":
Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10
Within the user folders (i.e. /home/user/....) I am unable using any
method to create, copy or move a "folder" specifically into the
structure. Creation, moving, copying of files is fine. I tried copying a
folder from a samba share to the /home/john/Music folder and I got
"Invalid name" (See screenshot). When I ignored the folders and just
copied the files straight into /Music there we're no problems. If I try
to create a folder within Nautilus (right click menu) nothing happens.
If I try using "mkdir" I get the following:
With user privileges:
j...@john-karmic:~$ mkdir /home/john/Music/new-folder
mkdir: cannot create directory `/home/john/Music/new-folder': Invalid argument
With root privileges:
j...@john-karmic:~$ sudo mkdir /home/john/Music/new-folder
mkdir: cannot create directory `/home/john/Music/new-folder': Invalid argument
Just the creation of folders seem to be the problem. Permissions seem to
be fine, check the screenshots for details.
