Same problem in a clean install of Ubuntu/kubuntu 9.04 on an Asus P5KPL-AM mobo.
"unable to iterate IDE devices No such file or directory" message when
shutdown, otherwise the shutdown procces seems OK, but a closer look shows that
all connected peripherals - keyboard, mouse, KVM-switch, USB-scanner - is left
with power on. And there seems to bee no other way than the psu switch to close
them down.
Same result if I boot another Linux OS from live-CD
With so many reports similar problems in different distros/kernels, there must
be some hardware compatibility problem. Would be nice if someone qualified gave
this problem a closer look.
